Hi, I’m Nanna!

About Nanna | foodamentally | Allergy Friendly Food Intolerance Food Blog & Wholesome Family Recipes

It means a lot to have you here. I started this blog to support those who find themselves confronted and overwhelmed with food allergies and intolerances. Hopefully, it will provide you with the guidance and reassurance I needed while navigating this new, enforced lifestyle. I also hope it will support and inspire you to take up or re-engage in cooking. Because, really, cooking for family is all about taste, joy, connection and health.

Who am I?

I am a home cook, mother, traveller, food lover, interior styling aficionado and branding expert. I am also foodamentally’s authour, a food blog featuring allergy-friendly family recipes and educational insights about living with food allergies and intolerances. This blog reflects my experiences with food restrictions, knowledge, and realisations, as well as the recipes that helped us thrive amidst all the circumstances.

We’ve come a long way since 2015…

It all began in 2015 when our son developed eczema at 18 months and started projectile vomiting several times a week. Mainstream medicine told us he was fine and suggested suppressing his eczema, but we chose to investigate further. With a bioresonance diagnostic tool, we found he was reacting to dairy, gluten, certain fruits, and common food additives. After six months of food exclusions, his eczema subsided. After two years of strict dietary changes and nutritional support, he regained tolerance to most foods. It was a tough time with lots of “No’s” and tears, but it was worth it. Today he is eleven and can eat anything again.

Besides my family and living in Australia, I love fresh food, the alpine countryside where I grew up, and the Mediterranean coasts, where my love affair with food and food markets began.

Just as he improved, I developed several food intolerances after severe food poisoning, resulting in continuous bloating and nausea. Despite seeing many doctors and being diagnosed with SIBO and IBS, I found no lasting relief. The key to my recovery was learning to listen to my body and to reduce my overall stress. In addition, taking away what triggered my body and replacing it with nourishing, unprocessed alternatives

Today, I feel better than I have in years! My way of eating and understanding of food has changed, and I like it. It supports my family’s health, and I’m excited to share this journey and knowledge with you! Read more about foodamentally here.

Fun Facts about me

I am as German as they come: brutally honest, I dislike small talk and am always on time (although this attribute is dwindling the longer I live in Australia). Oh, and I LOVE food markets! Going at 5 am on Sundays is my kind of me-time. 😉

As a child, I wanted to become an archaeologist, a model and a psychologist. I studied fashion design and journalism before transitioning into marketing, where I focused on brand development and graphic design. In 2024, I completed a Diploma of Health Science with a focus on nutrition – why not put a degree to what I had learned over the past nine years. 😉

Since leaving school, I have worked in TV, luxury hospitality, founded a tech start-up, managed a graphic design agency, consulted with SMEs, and run a primary school tuckshop for two years (my hardest gig, hands down).

I have two children, an English husband, and two pet chickens. I’ve learned six languages, but I’ve yet to succeed in setting up a productive vegetable patch.
